Salvador was once the capital of Portugal's New World. The city is quite large about 2.5m, mostly highrise. The city is separated by a sheer cliff: water side and upper, which is accessed by a two stop 10 storey (est) lift to the upper.
It has a historic core of colourfully decorated buildings. They surround several large cobbled squares which have the dubious history of being the location for the sale of slaves.
Once again we ventured forth, independent of the travel groups. We had fun and we were spectularly drenched with an afternoon thunderstorm. Being independent we were able to take a taxi down an amazingly precipitous route back to the ship.
Toscana restaurant and concert after tonight. yay
