We docked at Fortaleza Brazil about 11. It is the state capital of Ceara state and is a fortress city (as the name implies). First colonised by the Portuguese in 1603 , then the Dutch invasion 1630, then back to the Poruguese in 1654. In between a generic war with the native original inhabitants. All about the Spice hokey pokey.
It was also a bit of a victory for us (I mean Alan). We were able to travel independently due to the hard work by Al setting up South American internet access, researching money access, uber etc. We were able to take off safely and confidently to a shopping centre (where I bought a set of scales- I don't know why) and then to a market (pictured below) with our friends Mimi and Connie.
Back on board there was na Oceania cocktail party with glitterarti and free drinks which were gratefully consumed.
