We walked around Porto Grande with Dave and Jeanne. Did about 7000 steps so on the right side of the ledger. Porto grande is also known as Mindelo Bay.

The name, Cape verde was given by the Portuguese explorers despite the fact that the all the islands a re barren, particularly Mindelo. The city itself has an intense barren backdrop of volcanic mountains. The city was established by the portuguese in the 15th century and played a significant role in the slave trade. (yuk)

the city is unsurpisingly full of remnant colourful colonial architecture. We enjoyed our visit to the CNAD gallery, where they had an interesting textile exhibtion. Also a set of Picasso printing plates.

The revision to the program was that we played a great card game with Dave, Jeanne, Mimi and Connie called 5 Crowns in the afternoon, then off to GDR for a team dinner.
