Durban is the third most populated city in South Africa. It is ethnically diverse: Zulu, white, Indian and Asian. Its history is oral passed down in the Zulu nation prior to the Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama, who sighted the coastline at Christmas 1497, named Durban formally known as Port Natal.

We caught a Ivan's taxi at the dock with Barbara and Garry. We all had tasks in Durban. Ivan's taxi was a beautiful black mercedes with leather seating for 6 facing each other in the back under two large skylights. It was a fantastic upgrade on a an excursion bus.

Ivan, a tall handsome black guy who accompanied us everywhere we wanted.

First stop was Chemist then a music shop where I purchased a ukelele, Barb some uke stuff. We then went to Victoria Markets.

Jeanne and Alan and I hopped on the shuttle bus to the brilliant uShaka Marine World in the afternoon. It was really one of the most creative presentations I have ever seen. The aquariums were set in the base of a shipwreck adding to the mystery of the exhibitions. 10,000 species.

We had a great day at Durban.
