Jeanne Dave Alan and I had the best time in Maputo Mozambique. The on board info was " be careful, don't go here, don't go there , don't wear jewellery... etc" Alan had researched textile shops for Jeanne and myself. Jeanne is very keen on textiles like me. We took a cab direct to the shop where we were in a kaleidoscope of colour with individual sari length fabrics for $3 each.
After we went to the standard tourist haunts of post colonial buildings such as the Central Railway Station.
Maputo is the largest city and capial of Mozambique. Its natural bay made is very attractive to European colonialists. The Portuguese established a fort in 1781. Since then there have been many civil wars and independence was declared in 1975.
