Mahe is the largest island of the Seychelles group of 115 islands. It has a population of 100k plus visitors. It has the familar history of French and English colonisation and is stunningly beautiful.
It has progresssive leadership and is intent on protecting its environment which is unique and contains rare endemic species in their forests. They have solar farms and wind mills to support their growth. The population has a high GOP.
The Aldabra Giant Tortoise is unique to the Seychelles and can live to be 250 years old. In another island there are 1000s apparently. We saw these at the Gardens in Mahe.
We grabbed a taxi tour, to take us over the island which was fantastic.
